Changes for v3.0.57 are
- Adds a beta version of a GPU renderer
- Improves adaptive sampling by using a more effective criterion
- Arnold now accounts for the normal of the shading point when importance sampling a skydome
- Visible lights now have a camera and a transmission attribute, so they can be rendered
- The GGX microfacet BSDF used in the standard_surface shader has been improved

- Arnold Properties -> Displacement -> Zero can now be set to a negative value
- Export Selected now exports the current frame if the Animation check box is not selected
- You can now set Animation Start to more than 1000 in the .ASS Exporter dialog box

New Plugin: Animation

This is a fast solution for creating ropes for your Massfx simulation. Select two objects and create a rope between them automatically. The rope morphing is based on a Skin modifier. You can use either the standard Skin modifier or 3D-io Bones Pro. No additional plugins are required.

Massfx Rope Creator is available for Max 2010 to 2019 and costs $19.

Site News: Calling all freeware plugin developers

If you are a plugin developer with source code for plugins that you don't develop anymore, it would be great if you could get in touch with me. I would be glad to recompile as many old plugins as possible to stop them from disappearing for ever. Just mail me to let me know what sort of stuff you've got.

On a side note, this is how the Messiah:studio plugins got recompiled for Max 9 to 2012, as well as all of the Sisyphus plugins, so it's worth sending stuff my way :o)
