Plugin Update: Import / Export

Changes for v2009.02.24 are:
- 'Visible' and 'Enable' properties can now be set independently
- Meshes with zero vertex / face count are now ignored
- 'FrameCount' with the 'Auto' flag disabled now exports properly
- IK node animation now correctly reports animation
- Fixes a memory leak


Plugin Update: Materials

Changes for v1.1 are:
- Fixes a crash when used in a Composite map


New Plugin: Import / Export

This plugin lets you export your models from Max to Wild Pockets, a software service that lets you create 3D content that can be enjoyed through any compatible browser.

Additional plugin features include:
- Textures and models are automatically packaged together during export
- Direct export of bump / normal maps without manual intervention
- Support for collision editing
- Lets you control physics properties and other game behaviors


Plugin Update: Import / Export

Changes for v2009.02.21 are:
- Adds new Rectangle Object shape
- Adds star and regular polygons in SymGon Object
- You can now create holes in triangulation objects


New Plugin: Modelling / Texturing

This scripted plugin is similar to Mayas Paint Effects, and contains a library of objects and the tools necessary to easily add them to your scene. It works with the scanline renderer, mental ray and V-Ray, rendering fast as well as allowing fast viewing in the viewport. It includes objects that can follow active cameras and animated objects, all of the materials are editable, and the objects it creates are also editable.

3DYK Paint is available for Max 2008 to 2009 and costs $200 plus delivery. A demo version is available here.


Misc News: New hotfix for Max 2009 released...

Autodesk have released a new hotfix for Max 2009 which tackles the following issues:
- Improved memory management to reduce the loss of the undo stack
- Improved network render time for some scenes
- Backburner now works currently with a limited user account

Plugin Update: Texturing

Siger Studios have expanded on their RAL Classic texture map and repackaged it as RAL Color Solid. Alongside the 210 RAL Classic colors, the plugin now includes the 1688 RAL Design colors.

Siger Texmap RAL Color Solid is available for Max 2009 and costs €22.

groundExport is part of the PathEngine SDK, and is available for Max 9 to 2009. A basic license for the SDK costs €5000.

- Fixes an application crash on exit
- Rotate To Horizontal and Crop commands no longer crash the application
- Fixes BMP (DIB type) being incorrectly read

- Wavefront: fixes missing UV textures
- Wavefront: fixes missing meshes when converting to this format
- PBuffer initialisation no longer crashes the application when opening a 3D viewer

New Plugin: Texturing

The SigerShaders are scripted plugins for use with V-Ray v1.5 and higher that control many components of the V-Ray Material based on specific material criteria. It contains 24 Leather presets which can be customized flexibly and, most importantly, quickly, for all needs. The Leather shader only exposes the settings that are important in creating a highly realistic and optimized material.

SigerShaders VLeather is available for Max 9 to 2009 and costs €22.

New Plugin: Texturing

The Siger Texmap RAL Classic is a scripted 2D texture map plugin which contains all 210 RAL Classic colornames. The RAL Colors have been matched as closely as possible to their RGB equivalent. Therefore it cannot serve as a standard for RAL Color production and is to be used as a guide for color planning, visualizations and specification only.

Siger Texmap RAL Classic is available for Max 9 to 2009 and costs €8.


New Plugin: Texturing

- The Alpha controls are now disabled when not in floating point mode


New Plugin: Materials

This is a rewrite of the BlurBeta SolidColor plugin and includes mental ray support. It does exactly the same as the original plugin, but other than that and the name the 2 plugins have nothing to do with each other. It seems to be a bit faster than the BlurBeta one.

Changes for v1.2 are:
- No changes, it was pointed out to me that I never recompiled it for Max 8, so here it is

If anyone out there can test this in Max 6 or 7, would you let me know if it works (it should do).

Plugin News: SigerShaders updated...

Siger Studio have updated their SigerShaders collection by combining all of the Metal Shaders into one shader pack. VMetal v1.1 now contains 136 Metal presets (34 simple (master) metal, 34 linear brushed metal, 34 cross-hatch brushed metal, 34 striped metal) for €22.

They have also released a new collection called VCeramics v1.0 which contains 40 Ceramic presets (10 enamel, 10 glaze, 10 porcelain, 10 pottery) and which costs €22.

SigerShaders are available for Max 9 to 2009 and cost between €12.50 and €22.


Plugin Update: Renderers

Changes for v1.0.405 are:
- Adds support for both v2 and v3 CPP interfaces
- Fix to improve support for LightIterator CPP interface
- Adds further support for FrameBuffer CPP interface
- Adds fallback support for FrameBuffer output to default to TIFF

New Plugin: Animation

The RealFlow RenderKit (RFRK) provides two different tools to help you render RealFlow simulations:

FlowMesher generates a high-resolution polygonal mesh from RealFlow PD and BIN particle files at render time. You no longer have to load heavy meshes into your 3D application - you simply load a representation of the particles as a guide for the meshing process.
FlowParticler enables you to load millions of particles at render time quickly and easily, and feed your renderer with particle information from RealFlow PD and BIN particle files.

RealFlow RenderKit is available for Max 7 to 2009 and costs $euro;370. A demo version is available here.
